Pressure vessels, gas cylinders, valves, accessories, and complete pressure systems do not share one universal route. Requirements vary with the medium, design/working pressure, volume, material, intended use, and whether the item is a component or complete system.
Definition and classification
Start with a clear engineering description and HS code, equipment/cylinder type, gas or liquid, pressure, volume, material, and use. Some products may fall under tank, fire-control, machinery, or other regulations; the generic descriptions “cylinder” or “tank” are insufficient.
Technical file
The file may include design drawings, material data, design calculations/specifications, manufacturing and welding procedures, test/inspection reports, valve and safety-device information, data plates, and operating/maintenance instructions. Do not state a test interval or standard until the exact category and official requirement are confirmed.
Inspection and testing
SASO laboratory information identifies hydraulic pressure, burst, and volumetric-expansion testing among capabilities used for certain pressure vessels and cylinders. The required test and report acceptance depend on category, regulation, and route; one test does not automatically approve the complete system.
Conformity and SABER
After scope determination, review SABER, accepted conformity/inspection body requirements, and factory review only where the applicable route explicitly requires it. A commercial shipment may require an SCoC after product requirements are complete.
Common errors
- Missing design pressure or medium.
- Data plate inconsistent with the report.
- Certificate for a different size or material.
- Omitting valves/accessories from system assessment.
- Shipping before scope and inspection are settled.
SaberVerify reviews classification, engineering documentation, reports, and marking; helps determine the conformity route; and coordinates with accepted parties when required. It does not test, inspect, or issue certificates.
