Many suppliers hold CE marking or related conformity documents, or test reports issued according to IEC standards, and wonder whether these documents are sufficient for the product to enter the Saudi market through the SABER platform. The answer is not an absolute yes or no; these documents may be valuable within the conformity file, but they do not automatically prove that Saudi market requirements have been met.
Why Isn’t CE Marking or an IEC Test Report Alone Sufficient?
CE marking relates to the conformity requirements applicable in the European market, while a test report shows the results reached according to a specific IEC standard. These documents may be valuable within the product file, but they are not automatically equivalent to the conformity certificate required in Saudi Arabia, because the applicable requirements may differ depending on the product, the regulation, the standard, the test scope, and the body that conducted the test or issued the document. What Factors Determine How Useful They Are?
Among the most important factors: whether the model described in the certificate or report exactly matches the product intended for export; whether the standard used in the IEC document corresponds to the standard required by the applicable Saudi regulation; whether the report’s scope covers the tests required within this pathway; whether the issuing body is recognized within the required scope; and whether changes have occurred to the product since the document was issued. How Does SaberVerify Help Evaluate These Documents?
We review the available CE documents and test reports against the product, the model, and the relevant technical requirements, and clarify how useful they may be within the conformity file and whether there are gaps that need to be completed or reviewed further. When needed, we coordinate with the appropriate conformity assessment body or laboratory according to the case.
SaberVerify is an independent platform and does not issue conformity certificates or test reports itself; this is done through the authorized entities according to the case’s requirements.
